Who we are
OurCents is developed and published by Sergiu Martin, Romania. For any privacy question or request, contact us at smartin.appsupport@gmail.com.
In short
We don’t run a server for OurCents and we don’t collect your personal data: everything you enter stays on your phone. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and OurCents has no analytics of its own.
Data you enter
Your transactions, categories, budgets, notes and settings are stored only in the app’s private storage on your device. We do not run a server for this app and cannot see, access or sell your data.
Backups and exports
Backup files, CSV exports and Excel reports are created only when you tap the button, and you choose where to save or send them (for example iCloud Drive, Google Drive or email). Once saved there, the privacy policy of that service applies. Your phone’s own backups (iCloud or Google) may include the app’s data, depending on your phone settings.
Voice entry
When you add a transaction by voice, your phone’s own speech recognition (Apple or Google) turns your words into text. Where the phone supports it, this happens entirely on the device; otherwise the audio is processed by Apple or Google under their privacy policies. OurCents only uses the microphone while you are using voice entry and does not keep any recordings.
Sharing with your partner
When you use “Share with partner”, the app creates a file with your OurCents data and you choose how to send it (for example AirDrop, a messaging app or email). It goes only to the person you send it to; there is no OurCents server in between. The service you use to send it may handle it under its own privacy policy. With “Quick sync” (on by default; Settings → Partner sync), two paired phones with OurCents open can also exchange the data directly, without a file or a server: on the same local network (Wi-Fi), and two iPhones also when they’re close to each other (Wi-Fi / Bluetooth). On the network, a phone announces itself only under a random ID, without names or data, and only the paired partner’s phone is accepted. The connection is encrypted with a key the two phones exchange in their sync files; on iPhone it needs the Local Network permission. Anyone who has one of your sync files could also read that key, so keep sync files private.
Face ID, fingerprint and passcode
The app lock uses your phone’s built-in authentication. Your face, fingerprint or passcode is checked by the phone itself; the app only learns whether unlocking succeeded.
Notifications
Reminders and budget alerts are created on your phone. No notification server is used and no data is sent.
Purchases
OurCents Pro is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. They process the payment; we never receive your payment details. The app only asks the store whether Pro has been purchased on your account.
How your data is protected
Your data is kept in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read, and is protected by your phone’s own security, such as device encryption and your screen lock. You can also lock the app with Face ID, fingerprint or your passcode. Backup, export and sync files are not encrypted by OurCents: send them only to people you trust and keep them somewhere safe.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
Data retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep it there; we never have a copy. You can delete everything at any time with Settings → Erase all data, or by uninstalling the app. To make syncing and “Undo last sync” work, the app also keeps a short list of deleted entries and its last 5 sync snapshots on your phone; Erase all data removes these too and forgets the pairing with your partner. Copies you saved or sent yourself (backups, exports, sync files) and your phone’s own backups are not affected: delete them where you stored them. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing we could access, correct or delete on request.
Support emails
OurCents keeps a short technical log on your phone: the app version, the phone model, which screens were opened, sync results and errors. It never contains your amounts, notes or names. It leaves your phone only if you choose “Include” when you write to support from Settings, and you see it in the email before you send it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published in the app and on this page with a new effective date.
